Cidi Labs Accessibility Tools for Canvas

A Quick-Reference Guide for Instructors

Introduction

Making courses accessible can be overwhelming, but Cidi Labs offers some great tools integrated within Canvas to help. You can use these tools not only to identify but also to resolve accessibility issues right within Canvas, setting them apart from other options like Ally, which focus primarily on identification.

There are already many wonderful accessibility resources available across UF — especially the Center for Instructional Technology and Training (CITT)’s excellent 8 Steps to Course Accessibility. The tools described here are meant to complement and be used alongside that guidance.

For each tool covered in this message, you will find:

What it is — a brief summary of the tool and its purpose

What it’s good for — the key use cases and features

How to access it — where to find the tool in Canvas and links to learn more
