Work Examples

These examples highlight the range of collaborative, learner-centered work produced by the COIP production teams. Each project reflects a partnership with instructors to translate course goals into engaging digital experiences—through thoughtful instructional design, multimedia integration, and intentional use of learning technologies.

Course Production

COIP collaborates with instructors to design and produce full courses that provide students with a cohesive, start-to-finish learning experience. Courses feature an intuitive landing page, clearly organized instructional materials aligned with learning objectives, and engaging activities that reinforce learning and promote student engagement.

Engaging Assignments

COIP partners with instructors to design and implement engaging assignments that align with course learning objectives and support student success. Assignments incorporate tools such as PlayPosit for interactive video learning, Perusall for peer annotation and collaboration, and Packback and Harmonize for structured, high-quality discussions that promote active learning.

Elevated Designs

Improved FAQ

FOS2001: Man’s Food is a large-enrollment course. To efficiently address a wide range of student questions, the instructional designer and instructor collaborated to organize the FAQ section by topic, using accordion layouts to create a streamlined, easy-to-navigate experience.

Managing Undergraduate and Graduate Assignments Within One Canvas Shell

MCB4403: Prokaryotic Cell Structure and Function includes undergraduate and graduate sections in one Canvas shell. Assignment titles indicate which sections should complete each task, and module overview pages use cards instead of tabs so students can quickly scan assignments.

Peer Engagement With Perusall

Example 1

FOS2001: Man’s Food is a large-enrollment course. To efficiently address a wide range of student questions, the iIn NUR3123: Pathophysiology and Pharmacology, the instructor and instructional designer decided to create Perusall assignments to move away from only using quizzes in the course and provide opportunity for students to meaningfully link the content about pathophysiology with related pharmacology topics.

Example 2

In CHM2046: General Chemistry 2, students engage with their peers to score and comment on their work.

Interactions Within PlayPosit Videos

Example 1

In IPM3022: Fundamentals of Plant Pest Management, ungraded knowledge checkpoints were added to the beginning and the end of each lecture video. These allowed students to test their knowledge of the materials before completing graded assignments with similar questions. The PlayPosit pause interactions also provided supplemental resources to specific portions of the lectures.

Example 2

In IDS2935: Finding Lost Stories, multimedia resources are intentionally integrated at specific points within the lecture to support and extend the instructor’s references.

In-Studio Recordings

Recorded lectures are central to many courses, allowing instructors to communicate course content to students in a more personal, face-to-face style. The COIP production team provides dedicated support, helping instructors record high-quality lectures in either of the two available studios.

On-Location Recordings

Instructors may best communicate course content at a specific location. The video team partners with instructors to identify ideal settings and capture lectures and demonstrations that more effectively showcase the concepts and skills students need to learn.

Course Promotional Videos

These dynamic, video snapshots offer an engaging, high‑impact preview that draws in students—and anyone curious about the courses—way beyond the plain syllabus. Instructors have featured the videos on their personal social media, departments sites, and across other digital channels to amplify visibility and spark interest.
